Your Podcast Is In The Top Charts of Apple, Spotify, and Top .1% on Listen Notes Are You Successful?
I've had 2 podcasts in the top 100 on Apple Podcasts in the US and 15 other countries, have been on Spotify's top podcasts and have shown up in the .5 percent of top shows on Listen Notes and what does all this mean?
So what has that gotten me? How can you measure these so called go to successes when it comes to the podcast space?
It's nice to mention in a blurb to potentially get a guest or land a sponsor. But can you truly correlate a top 100 ranking on Apple Podcasts to a range of plays and downloads, sales, and other metrics?
Yes and no. You can surmise a range but not pinpoint exact numbers. For example, if you've continuously hold a top 100 position week after week month after month, then it's safe to say people are listening constantly.
You would ultimately need background data. Finding the top 1-10 shows, 10-20, and so one what the downloads, plays, listen through rates look like over time. Are they constant for shows in those ranges or do they fluctuate? It's not hard to get into the top 100 in certain categories on Apple Podcasts, but it is exponentially harder to stay at the top of those rankings consistently.
I don't want to take these achievements from anyone, but some people use these in a malicious manner as well as try to fake it before they make it. The fact that these like may other things can be manipulated to gain the system also is something to be mindful of.
Ultimately if you've earned these congrats. Focus on putting out impactful valuable content and the rest will come. Promote and market your show to the correct audience. Let your data guide you in terms of episodes that resonate with your audience based on plays, download, and listen times. Let the data guide you and the rest will come.
